Go Vertical
It may feel awkward to hold the camera sedeways, but many of our shots are vertical, not horizontal. This is especially useful if shoinw depth, or perspective.

Scene Shooting Modes
Scene Modes are camera presets that select the exposure variables for you. Different modes place emphasis on different exposure variables. This limits the photographer to select desired exposure variables.
Zoom Lenses & Aperture
Some zoom lenses change aperture when zooming in and out. (e.g. f:3.5 to f/5.6). This can result in bright enough images when zoomed out, but too-dark images zoomed in.
Beanbag Tripod
Use a regular bag of dried beans or split peas as a “tripod” you can take anywhere. Sew the contents inside a double layer of cloth, and use the bag as a support for the base of your camera to set on stumps, stones, or your car to gain level and stable balance.
